Hi pat just wanted to say thankyou so much for coming to lecture at our course you are very inspiring and Ive learnt a great deal about the songwriting process sadly i was unable to purchase your book and even more sad was that someone stole it from our library only 2 weeks after it arrived! I have put a request in for another one however it's gonna take weeks to get here i cant wait to read it. I am an American songwriter living in Copenhagen, Denmark. I have played music for a while but am just branching out in my music career. I am in the process of finishing an album I started in January. I just wanted to say how thankful I am for the material you have produced! I first came in contact with your offerings from the online lyric course I took with Andrea Stolpe. Your books, especially the Essential Guide to Lyric Form and Structure, have been such a help to me in my development. I hope you meet you and thank you in person some day. Until then I just wanted to remind you how many people your teaching is helping. Thanks so much!

Being a experienced writer people are always asking, "How do I get better?. I just tell them to get Pat's book "Writing Better Lyrics" and do what it says. To get your songs recorded they need to stand out from the pack. Nashville is full of "GOOD" songs but they only record "GREAT" songs. I know, I know, not all songs recorded in Nashville are great but those writers have a track record and you don't. Your songs have to stand out. Make them great.

I attended the January 09' workshop at the American Film Institute. Most recently I saw you but had no time to speak with you at in the Weston, LAX just in November. You were leaving the resturaunt mid afternoon on Sunday and looked directly at me and I smiled... Esther and I will be attending again January 30 & 31, 2010' in L.A.
Currently, I'm taking critique classes in Seskins home in Richmond, CA and I advance daily resulting from regular study and the constant writing and showcasing of material at various venues here in the west. Thank You Pat, for all you do for the writers and creators of music! Your gifts and ideas are priceless and treasured by all whom I've met gaining from your instruction.

just reading other peoples comments, and reading the tips given on this site has total changed my prospective on song writing. I have never taken a class with Pat but i plan to use his tips to become a more affective songwriter.

Thanks again for the tools you gave me when you and Jon were in Richardson. In a teachers meeting this year, we were asked to jot down a few ideas concerning a "hero" in our lives. I wrote a short essay in 3 min. using every sense and memory of my paramedic son-in-law who had tragically died. When I read my essay to the other teachers, sobs and sniffles drifted across the room. Thanks for giving me the tools to share the beauty of his life with others.

Pat, having all your materials. doing every exercise, cover to cover and doing the 10min. exercises each morning since december 08' has been life changing. I write a song subject content from the subconscience in 10min. approximately, from way down deep, and then, do the structural changes that the body reveals using the rhyming, mosaic, inside, near rhyme, etc.. phonetic order, every tool you've prescribed for the song writer in my senses, confirms the effect your teaching is having on song craft. It's as big as the first printed text was on civilizations. I will "forever" be grateful to you and Steve Seskin, celebrating your names and the women who bore you, each January in rememberance of the Hollywood Film Institute Workshop Jan.09'.
